The story of
ROSENDO MATEU
Rosendo Mateu (Arenys de Mar 1945 – Barcelona 2022) embodies the essence of the self-made man, a quality that shines through in his meticulous craftsmanship and attention to perfection in every creation. For 45 years, Mateu was one of the leading specialists at Puig, one of the world’s most renowned perfume companies. Here, he developed numerous fragrances, each marked by his personal touch – a blend of commercial appeal and artistic innovation.
After contributing to some of the world’s most prestigious brands, Mateu turned to more ambitious projects, such as the creation of bespoke fragrances. This passion has led him to explore diverse subjects, from ancient Greek and Roman civilizations to the evocative art of Francis Bacon.
In 2010, Mateu earned the prestigious title of “Master Perfumer”, joining an elite circle of perfumers in Europe. In 2017, he tackled his biggest challenge yet: launching his own brand with five signature fragrances. After three years of collaboration with his son Joan, Mateu unveiled these creations, affirming his reputation as a leading perfumer.
